Working Principle
Negative temperature coefficient thermistor is mainly made of metal oxides such as manganese, cobalt, nickel and copper by ceramic process. These metal oxide materials have semiconductor properties because they conduct electricity exactly like germanium, silicon and other semiconductor materials. At low temperature, the number of charge carriers (electrons and holes) of these oxide materials is small, so their resistance value is high. As the temperature increases, the number of carriers increases, so the resistance value decreases. NTC thermistors vary from 100 to 1000000 ohms at room temperature with temperature coefficient -2[%] to -6.5[%].
