Among all kinds of switches, there is a component that has the ability to “sense” the object close to it – the displacement sensor. Using the sensitive characteristics of the displacement sensor to the approaching object to control the switch on or off, which is the proximity switch.
When an object moves toward the proximity switch and is close to a certain distance, the displacement sensor has “perception” and the switch will act. This distance is usually called the “detection distance”. Different proximity switches have different detection distances.
Sometimes the detected objects move toward the approach switch one by one and leave one by one at a certain time interval. And they are repeated constantly. Different proximity switches have different response ability to detected objects. This response characteristic is called the “response frequency”.
Magnetic Proximity Switch
Magnetic proximity switch is a kind of proximity switch, which is a position sensor made of electromagnetic working principle. It can change the position relationship between the sensor and the object, convert the non-electric quantity or electromagnetic quantity into the desired electrical signal, so as to achieve the purpose of control or measurement.
The magnetic proximity switch can achieve the maximum detection distance with a small switching volume. It can detect magnetic objects (usually permanent magnets), and then produce a trigger switch signal output. Because the magnetic field can pass through many non-magnetic objects, the triggering process does not necessarily need to put the target object directly near the induction surface of the magnetic proximity switch, but through a magnetic conductor (such as iron) to transmit the magnetic field to a long distance, for example, the signal can be transmitted to the magnetic proximity switch through a high temperature place to generate the trigger action signal.
The Main Use of Proximity Switches
Proximity switches are widely used in aviation, aerospace technology and industrial production. In daily life, it is applied on the automatic doors of hotels, restaurants, garages, automatic hot air machines and so on. In terms of security and anti-theft, such as data archives, accounting, finance, museums, vaults and other major places are usually equipped with anti-theft devices composed of various proximity switches. In measuring techniques, such as the measurement of length and position; In the control technology, such as displacement, speed, acceleration measurement and control, also use a large number of proximity switches.
